Following the Steps of St. Paul in Greece SCHEDULE

DAY 1

Arrival into Athens airport. meet our tour escort who will welcome you to Greece. Private transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to recover from the jet-lag. Overnight at the hotel of Athens.

DAY 2

Our guided City tour of Athens includes the visit of the Acropolis and the Parthenon but also the Mars Hill (Areopagus) where St. Paul preached to the Athenians. Visit also of the Old Olympic Stadium of Athens constructed in 1895-6, all in marble, with a capacity of 65000 spectators. The Stadium was used while the Olympics of 2004, Archery and Marathon. See also the Parliament House, the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Ex Royal Palace, the Evzons (guards dressed in their special costumes) the Academy, the University and the Library, which are the famous neoclassical masterpieces of the city. After the morning city tour we drive to Corinth, to visit Ancient Corinth where St. Paul lived and preached for nearly 2 years. See the marketplace and the Bema where the Apostle preached, the Temple of Apollo, and the Archaeological Museum. Stop also at the impressive Corinth Canal connecting the Aegean with the Ionian Sea. Return to Athens in late afternoon. Overnight at the hotel of Athens. (we can arrange a welcome dinner in one of the nicest taverns of the city with excellent Greek food and live Greek music with Greek dances!)

DAY 3

Free day at leisure. (we can offer an optional day cruise, a cruise to the 3 islands of the Saronic Gulf, to Aegina/Hydra and Poros or the afternoon half day tour to Cape Sounion which is a very beautiful drive along the coast of Attica, through the nicest parts of the city, arrive in Cape Sounion to visit the magnificent temple of Poseidon dominating the blue Aegean! Overnight at hotel of Athens.

DAY 4

After breakfast depart for Delphi. Drive along the highway to Thebes which is known as the home town of King Oedipus. Arrive in Delphi and visit of the sanctuary of Apollo with the magnificent temple of Apollo, the Theater, the Athenian Treasury, the Stadium, and of course visit of the Oracle of Delphi! Visit also of the beautiful Museum, housing some masterpieces of the Greek sculpture, such as the famous bronze statue of the Charioteer and the statue of the athlete Aghias. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the mystic Delphi and spend time of fellowship, relaxation and shopping. (also possibilities of visiting a small picturesque village ARAHOVA in the afternoon, known for its multicolored hand woven and needle point carpets and rags) Overnight at the hotel of Delphi, located on the slopes of the mountain Parnassus, providing the nicest view of the Amphissa valley and the Corinthian Gulf.

DAY 5

Breakfast in the hotel. Depart for Meteora. Today we drive through the biggest plain of Greece, Thessaly, arrive in Kalambaka, up the narrow steep roads to reach Meteora, this incredible architectural complex of Monasteries built over seven hundred years ago.

One of the highlights of our trip will be the visit of two Monasteries containing priceless historical and religious treasures. Meteora is a unique in beauty spot, I believe this visit is worth just the whole trip!!! Overnight at the Amalia hotel of Kalambaka.

DAY 6

Depart for Thessaloniki. Drive to Vergina to visit the tomb of Philip II, the king of Macedonia and father of Alexander the Great. Visit also of the magnificent Museum housing all the Gold masterpieces found in the tomb. Then, following the footsteps of Paul, Silas and Timothy after they were driven out of Thessaloniki, you will visit Veroia (Berea) stopping to view the Bema surrounded by mosaics of St. Paul. Continue our drive to Thessaloniki where St. Paul wrote to Thessalonians, and visit the Museum, the church of St. Demetrius, the church of St. Sophia, upon arrival in the afternoon. Also see the Arch of Galerius, the White Tower, the Rotonda and the fortress of Yedikule. Overnight at the hotel of Thessaloniki.

DAY 7

Day trip to Philippi and Kavala. Arrive in Philippi where we visit the Roman Forum, the Christian Basilica, the Theater and the Prison of St. Paul, where the jailer was converted. Here Lydia, a lady from Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics was converted and baptized in the river. Visit of the baptistery of St. Lydia. Drive to the pretty port of Kavala where St. Paul landed with his disciples, Timothy and Silas. Return to Thessaloniki in the afternoon. Overnight at the hotel of Thessaloniki.

Day 8

Today we drive back to Athens. After breakfast depart for Pella to visit the capital of the Macedonian kings, such as Philip II and Alexander the Great. Then continue our drive to Athens with a stop at the mountain Olympus where the Gods had their residence on the highest peak. Stop at Thermopylae to see the statue of Leonidas, the famous Spartan king, who fought the powerful Persian army in 480 BC. Stop in Kammena Vourla. We arrive in Athens to prepare ourselves for the wonderful 3 day cruise to the Greek islands and Ephesus. Overnight at the hotel of Athens.

DAY 9

Morning transfer to the port of Piraeus to start our 3 day cruise. Depart at 11:00am. Arrive in Mykonos at 5:30pm. The island is known for its white washed houses and world famous windmills. Stroll along the whitewashed flower decked alleyways to the church of Paraportiani or along the waterfront of “Little Venice”. Depart from Mykonos at 11:00pm.

DAY 10

In the morning call at Kusadasi, where you can take the excursion to Ephesus, where St. Paul preached. You will marvel as you walk down the well preserved streets of the Library. See also the Monastery of St. John and visit Mary’s House where tradition tells us Mary has spent her last days, upon leaving the Holy Land with St. John. Arrive in Kusadasi, Turkey at 7:00am. Depart at noon. Continue our cruise to Patmos where St. John wrote the Book of the Revelation during his exile from the Roman Empire. Our excursion of today takes us to the Grotto of the Revelation and the Monastery of St. John. Arrival in Patmos at 4:00pm. Depart at 9:00pm.

DAY 11

Today we cruise towards Heraklion, Crete, where you take the excursion to Knossos, where we will explore the unique in beauty Palace. Arrive in Heraklion at 7:00am and depart at 11:30am. We sail from Crete and spend a delightful evening in Santorini exploring its terraces, winding cobblestone alleys and the town’s main square, Platia. Santorini is known also as the

lost island of Atlantis! Arrival in Santorini at 5:00pm. Depart at 9:00pm.

DAY 12

This morning we return to Athens/Piraeus. Arrive in Piraeus around 7:00am. Disembarkation. Transfer to the Athens airport.
