This program provides the opportunity to explore the best of the island Crete, taste the local cuisine, interact with the locals, enjoy a relaxing experience. It’s is not offered in any other online platform – we are a registered travel agency, organized by licensed qualified guides / archaeologists you look for in a holiday, you will undoubtedly find it in Crete, the largest island in Greece. Crete is the ultimate combination of all. There, you can admire the remnants of brilliant civilizations, explore glorious beaches, impressive mountainscapes, fertile valleys and steep gorges.
3 nights in Agios Nikolaos – 2 nights in Heraklion – 4 nights in Chania
DAY 1
18 October- Sunday
Arrival on Crete – Transfer to Agios Nikolaos – settling to the hotel- the program starts on the 19th of October. Meeting at the hotel and welcome dinner at the city center of Agios Nikolaos – details of the program / questions to be answered . Overnight stay at Agios Nikolaos at the Athens airport. Private transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore the city and sample its diverse restaurants and nightlife. Overnight in Athens.
DAY 2
19 October- Monday
Meeting at the hotel and after your breakfast, we will start the day program , visiting the archaeological site of Gournia, church of Kritsa, archaeological site of Lato Kamara and the archaeological museum of Agios Nikolaos . (breakfast – lunch and coffee stop, entrance tickets, transportation – guiding services of a professional licensed English speaking guide – archaeologist included) Overnight stay at Agios Nikolaos
DAY 3
20 October- Tuesday
Mountainous eastern Crete –Malia archaeological site - Ceramic workshop – monastery of Virgin Mary – Venetian Windmills (breakfast – lunch and coffee stop, entrance tickets, transportation – guiding services of a professional licensed English speaking guide – archaeologist included) Overnight stay at Agios Nikolaos
DAY 4
21 October- Wednesday
Relocating from Agios Nikolaos to Heraklion ( Tour – Transfer ) We will depart with the luggage for Heraklion city and visit the palace of Knossos and the museum of Heraklion and enjoy a lunch in a local taverna in the city center , after the tour we will reach the hotel – free time in the afternoon .( breakfast – lunch, entrance tickets, transportation – guiding services of a professional licensed English speaking guide – archaeologist included) Overnight stay at Heraklion
DAY 5
22 October- Thursday
Phaistos palace – the museum of Mesara and free time at Matala. We will enjoy lunch in a local taverna (breakfast – lunch and coffee stop, entrance tickets, transportation – guiding services of a professional licensed English speaking guide – archaeologist included) Overnight stay at Heraklion
DAY 6
23 October- Friday
Departing transfer – tour to Chania via Margarites Eleytherna museum – Arkadi monastery and Rethymnon continue West and reach Chania in the afternoon at the hotel . (breakfast – lunch and coffee stop, entrance tickets, transportation – guiding services of a professional licensed English speaking guide – archaeologist included). Overnight stay at Chania .
DAY 7
24 October- Saturday
Aptera – WWII cemetery – Venizelos Graves - Museum of Chania and walking tour in the old town combined with a food and tasting along the way . (breakfast – lunch, entrance tickets, transportation – guiding services of a professional licensed English speaking guide – archaeologist included). Overnight stay at Chania.
DAY 8
25 October- Sunday
Culinary lesson and tasting of local products ( breakfast – lunch and coffee stop, entrance tickets, transportation – guiding services of a professional licensed English speaking guide – archaeologist included), villages of western Crete . Overnight stay at Chania
DAY 9
26 October- Monday
Cruise 4 h from the port of Chania (weather permitting – if this will not be possible the tour will be replaced with a tour on the western part of Crete ) . Enjoy a cruise from the port of Chania to the near by islet and of course the picturesque Chania Venetian port and lighthouse from the sea…. Overnight stay at Chania . In case of cancellation of the cruise due to weather conditions , there are alternative programs that we can provide ( Southern part of Chania or other highlights of western Crete )
DAY 10
27 October- Tuesday
Departure transfer to the airport of Chania
9 days full program with minimum participants 2 and maximum participants 7 . More guests can participate upon request.
Inclusions :
All transfers and tours as mentioned above in the per day program . If any site ( for any reason ) will be closed – we will alter the program accordingly to add another site of similar importance and interest.
Professional licensed English speaking guide and archaeologist through out the program with the group.
All entrance fees to all archaeological sites.
Whispers for all participants to hear clearly the information by the guide in any site.
Accommodation is included :
3 nights at a hotel in Agios Nikolaos in the city center
2 nights in Heraklion and 4 nights at a Chania city center ( so you can enjoy the city at your pace , after the tours)
Breakfast is included at the hotel
All lunches are included in the day tours.
No extra charge for a single room .
The hotels are 4+ and 5 star city hotels
Every guest will receive organic olive oil and local herbs ( have some space in your luggage to take them back home )
